this fall.

her and i may have to begin a relationship. starting with these.

and i'm going to try and get them from here ( because the owner is a friend of ours ). but all of this ankle bootie talk may just be in fun. with my short legs, i really think pulling them off will be quite tricky. although these and these and this may help. ;)

how do YOU wear YOUR booties? i'd love to know!

just when we thought we missed it.

for some reason, i just couldn't decide on which DVF for gap stuff i liked the most. the gap seriously used to be miss mila's and my home away from home, i'm pretty sure 75% of her wardrobe is gap. but unfortunately, not all corpus mamas caught on to the cuteness that is gap kids and baby gap clothing, so our much loved store said goodbye to us and closed its doors at the end of february. we've now had to resort to purchasing pretty much ALL of m's clothes online. thank you corpus christi, you really are making it oh so convenient for me to shop for my daughter. really, you are.

so after putting in and taking out pretty much every DVF piece that ms. furstenburg designed, i hit a standstill. untillllll {drumroll please}, a little visit with a friend and a little gift for mila made us proud owners of quite possibly the cutest dress ever.

another drawback to this whole "shop online for everything" thing? my computer screen really isn't doing these cute pieces justice. while that dress is adorable online {and went in and out of my basket several times}, it's SO much cuter in person {and even cuter on my baby}.

if the 'shopping bags' at these sites weren't virtual.

i'm pretty sure they would have torn through the bottom by now.

a little sampling of what i may or may not be wearing this summer......depending on how generous the husband is.

funky funk.

pretty sure the midsection has begun to grow. at this point it doesn't feel like a fabulous and fantastically cute baby 'bump' but more of an 'i'm getting bigger EVERYwhere'. my two-hamburger weekend probably didn't help the matter. let's just say that miss milla really wanted some serious food. but today is a new week and instead of indulgences like that of the weekend, i plan on getting this babe and me back on track with lots of veggies and much less 'saturated fat' {i just acted like that term didn't exist in my vocab. this weekend...only in my belly}. so on this fast train to not feeling large and in charge, i have my sights on a few wonderfully girly pieces.

and on the home-front, we have officially purchased the fennel seed paint by martha stewart that i talked about the other day...now i just need to figure out which bedroom walls will make the cut and get on with my painting! and baby will be fine since my bf martha has officially made all of her paints free of v.o.c.'s!

a new friend.

at the wedding this weekend, i got to meet the daughter of a very good friend of my father-in-law's. after admiring her dress since she did the reading at the ceremony, and talking to her over too many topo and vodka's, i found out that she owns a store called 'kickpleat' {how cute is that??} in austin. later i told her dad that i definitely want to visit the store next time i'm in town, he made a quick joke that i 'can't afford it'. wellll, just got to check out her website and while he may be right in my ability to purchase anything from that gem of a shop, i can certainly dream {while working endlessly to convince the mister that i NEED so much of the store's inventory}.

{unplanned} weekend hiatus.

it's only saturday but already it has been quite the weekend. the mister and i arrived in our city away from home at about six yesterday. since a lot of the work that our architecture firm does comes from schools, we hosted a dinner last night at the 'strip house' for all of the south texas school board members. the dinner was delicious {i had the salmon} and also got to wear a new necklace i got by tracy tenpenny {former interior designer turned jeweler who is based out of austin}.

{tracy tenpenny}
although i didn't get any compliments on it {thought i would}, i don't care because i think it's lovely. today we woke up early and while nick shmoozed with some school board members, i enjoyed a nice coffee with a friend in the highland village area. when i got back to the hotel, we immediately went to the grove at discovery green for brunch. we go to this restaurant almost every time we come to houston. today i kept it small with a soup and salad.

{the grove}
the restaurant is just minutes from the hotel we stay in and it's right in the middle of discovery green {a huge 'green' development project in the heart of downtown houston that plays host to free yoga classes, all kinds of stuff to do for the kiddos, summer concerts and even a mini library that's part of the houston public library system}. my lunch was a lot prettier when the waiter brought it to me but i took a couple of bites before i realized i wanted to share it with you! the house dressing is a mustard shallot vinaigrette that was tossed with the lettuce and just perfectly evenly dispersed. i would definitely order this again. i found a recipe for a similar dressing online that i hope is very similar to the grove's. can't wait to try it when i get home!
tomorrow we're going to the houston texans v. dallas cowboys game. i'm sure i will procure quite a few interesting pictures...hopefully as good as this one.
hope every one is having a fantastic weekend!

weird time of year wedding.

it's not summer. it's not south texas' version of fall. so what do you wear to an outdoor wedding this time of year. i have a few dress options i'm toying with.

{piperlime}
{no. 6}
{anthropologie}

i'm not too crazy with the second one but i think i could funk it up a bit. but i'd have to ditch any possibility of wearing tights. the wedding is at a pecan farm in leakey, texas. hello heat. hello humidity. goodbye any chance of good hair. although i've yet to decide on a dress {thinking i'm liking the third image the most though}, but i did find a pretty perfect clutch.

{no. 6}
after all of this 'computer screen shopping', i'm sure i'll just rework something i already have in my closet!!

long locks.

with the long hair i have and lack of desire to cut it any time soon, i am always looking for new ways to style it. lucky for me my hair is SOMEwhat curly.

but still straightens with relative ease.

i love the looks from these runway shows but always find it hard to clip my hair and really make it hold.

i'm not a big fan of the first image {even though, with all the corpus humidity, that's what my hair usually ends up looking like} but i do love the sweetness of the blonde girl's hair. not to mention the color!
i'm also working on switching up my part every now and then.

{ignore the bottom photo} i usually opt for a side part occasionally switching to the center {although i don't pull it off quite as well as mrs. sarah jessica}. this girl's part is almost a 'side-center', not smack dab in the middle. love it.
