around the internet that i'm sort of wishing i ( we ) had right now. or in the very near future.

this is what our weekend looked like.
waking up to this cutie at the beach house after an all too delicious fish fry on FRYday night.
followed by a way too lazy saturday spent in white onesies {nick and i of course skipped the white onesies and stuck to sweatpants and t-shirts} listening to the husband serenading the babe on the geetar.
a reunion between me and some barbecued ribs that never tasted so good, thanks to THESE guys. evidence shown here.
and finally, after four months, as much as i hate to admit it, we took miss moo to her first church service.
since moving back to corpus, nick and i just haven't found a church that we REALLY like and feel comfortable in, albeit we haven't looked very hard. but i think we might have found our place at first united methodist. between the welcoming friendliness of the congregation, touching sermon and mila's new friend that adorned her with the lovely headpiece she's sporting, we will definitely be back next sunday.
to top it all off, i think i might have snapped my new favorite picture of this little family.
and now miss mila moo is asleep for a much-needed nap in her crib of all places!! {go m!} while her dad and i watch bridesmaids for the upteenth time {i love you ms. wiig}. yes, a good weekend was definitely had by all.

when do i blog?
when this babe decides to fall asleep before me.
and she's not hungry anymore. and dinner is done. dishes are clean. house is spotless. laundry is folded and where it's supposed to be.
and i manage a workout.
yeah, that's my 'might get a blog post in today' criteria.
and today was one of those days.

we're pretty smitten.
with these.
and this song could definitely be the soundtrack for our life lately.

the belly that keeps getting bigger.
{thanks to my new favorite breakfast: plain yogurt + agave + granola + berries} |
the baby that won't come out.
and the mom that's learning every day just how impatient she really is.

mila's "due" date.
after a three-mile walk this morning and a spicy thai lunch, husband and i headed out to the beach house for some much needed relaxation. and we might have taken the boat over some serious waves in hopes that the bumps would jostle mila around enough to make her debut tonight.
now we watch the heat hopefully beat the mavs while we listen to the playlist that the dad-to-be made for the birth of his first daughter. doesn't get much better than him.

fighting the urge.
to stay in a yoga pant + t-shirt uniform and lay in bed all day.
instead, i'm going to try and focus on a few new sweetly-scented house plants.
and some reminders that life is definitely blooming on our patio.
because even though, according to mrs. doctor, baby's 'due' date is june the ninth, i never really felt like that was the day she would come out and meet us. throughout this whole pregnancy i just knew she'd be here a couple days early, but as the ninth quickly approaches, it seems like baby mila just doesn't want to come out and we might be looking at a later birth date.
despite the eagerness to not be pregnant anymore, i really just want to meet our healthy baby girl. every night that i lay down, i hope that i'm awoken by some evil pain that tells me our baby will be in our arms in just hours. but each morning, i continue to wake up to the sun shining in my eyes and this little babe tucked warm inside my belly {and yes, i do know that the wonderful squirms of movement from my girl will be desperately missed once she's living on the outside}.
what i fear most is that our doctor won't be willing to work on miss mila's schedule and this whole labor/delivery snowballs into something so opposite of the natural delivery we hope to have. so please keep us in your prayers.
i certainly don't know when mila's alarm clock is set to go off, but i'm hoping it's sometime within the past five minutes.
happy monday!

...and on the baby front.
still no mila. we would be pretty lucky to actually get to meet our daughter three weeks ahead of time, and if she's anything like her "patient" parents, she does not plan on waiting any longer than we do to get out of her nine-month rental property.
we did have our second weekly appointment today and found out that i've started to open up {and soften} a bit {pretty detailed, i know, but these are the things that excite me lately}....so the daily walks continue, as do some additional herbal strategies that have been proven to get things moving in the labor and delivery department. plus, and this is a big one since having a c-section is at the top of my 'really hope this doesn't happen on delivery day' list, miss mila's head is still down. i'm telling you, i really don't think that june ninth is her birthday of choice.....maybe something more like, ohhhhhh, may nineteenth????
and today, forty+ years ago, my oldest sister actually DID define this as her birthday! happy birthday kim!

and so it begins.
recently, my father-in-law took a trip to new orleans for an architecture convention that he attends each year. although, this time, he apparently had someone else on his mind while he did his usual shopping.
she has blueprints and EVERYthing. love it.

hello may sixteenth.
with this day, comes my last week to work at the office. which therefore brings lots and lots of time to continue getting ready for the little one to come home.
so far, i have my bag nearly packed.
last load of mila's laundry is DONE, smells heavenly thanks to the wonderful world of zum organics, and {thanks to aunt missy} mila has an adorably soft little outfit to come home in.
carseat is finally in mila's new ride.
and we only have a few minor things to do in her little bedroom.

this is how we look.
when husband is appearing cuter than ever and therefore helps divert one's eyes away from my giganti-sized belly.
SOOOO ready to meet you miss mila.

how i feel lately.
not so much fatigued or worn out. just like i can't get enough sleep. and {almost} every night lately, baby has woken me up around 2:00AM to dance around in my tummy. pretty obvious she has a bit of her dad's owl-like syndrome in her.

hadn't even thought of that.
the more i think about it, the more i hate the idea of making baby purchases only to discard of most of the things within barely a few months. husband and i are still at opposite ends when it comes to a bouncer {with recall after recall, i honestly have a panic attack every time i see a child in one....especially when the parents place them on a table. yeah, it happens}, pack and play's kind of gross me out, unless they're used as an alternative sleeping solution {but what happened to children being able to roammmmmm around a house and not be confined to jersey mesh walls??} and i can't even begin to elaborate on how i feel about all of the completely unnecessary toys and electronics that come with our {'our' meaning 'our society'....not nick's and my} new approach to baby-raising.
yesterday, when a client of mine asked what we have yet to receive, and need, from our registry {aside from feeling a little awkward in having to tell someone what to specifically buy for us} i resorted to telling her that we really need everything else that's on our registry since we only registered for those things that we saw necessary. buttttttt, another client of mine in the class commented on how we would still need some keepsakes. 'KEEP' being the word that sold me. my mom passed over a few little silver pieces from my childhood and i would love for mila {and the rest of our children} to be able to do the same when they start families of their own. in searching for some items that are both beautiful and timeless, i definitely got excited about the idea of having these things placed around our home for years to come.
